License
In one line: use JoyUI in any project, for free, forever — just keep a visible credit to Vanelton Media. The rest of this page spells that out in detail.
What you can do
- Use JoyUI (the CSS and JS files at
cdn.vaneltonmedia.com/joy/) in any site, app, or product — personal, open source, or commercial, including paid third-party products. - Copy, adapt, and modify the files freely inside your own project.
- Use as many components as you want, or just one — nothing in JoyUI is split into a free tier and a paid tier.
- Override tokens, colors, and behavior to match your brand.
There's no fee, subscription, "pro" plan, or usage cap — not today, not later.
The one requirement: credit
Somewhere reasonably visible on the site or app that uses JoyUI — footer, an "about" page, a credits section — keep a live-linked credit like this:
Design system <a href="https://joyui.vaneltonmedia.com">JoyUI</a> by <a href="https://vaneltonmedia.com">Vanelton Media</a>.
The exact presentation (plain text, an icon, font size) is up to you. What matters is that someone browsing your site can find where the design system came from without opening your source code.
The CSS/JS never checks for this credit. Keeping it is a condition of the license. Internal tools, prototypes, and non-public projects — anything with no outside user seeing a screen — are exempt, since there's no visible site to credit on.
What you can't do
- Claim you created JoyUI, or remove the credit required above.
- Use the "Vanelton Media" or "JoyUI" name, or the associated logos, in a way that implies a partnership, endorsement, or official affiliation beyond the simple credit described above.
- Redistribute the JoyUI files as your own design system, or someone else's, without keeping the reference to where they came from.
No warranty
JoyUI is provided "as is," with no warranty of any kind, express or implied. Vanelton Media isn't liable for damages arising from using the design system in your project — test it before shipping to production, like you would with any external dependency.
Changes to this license
These terms may change in future versions of JoyUI. A license change doesn't retroactively affect anyone already using an earlier version under the terms in effect at the time — but check this page again if you update the CDN files.
